A premium brand identity created for The Smart Lighting People, bringing expertise, innovation and exceptional lighting together under one distinctive name.
When Martin approached me, he already had a strong vision for The Smart Lighting People. He knew the colours, typography and overall feeling he wanted the brand to communicate. My role was to take those ideas and turn them into a refined visual identity that felt as sophisticated as the lighting solutions behind it.
After several conversations and creative sessions, the direction became clear. The brand needed to feel premium without becoming overly formal, distinctive without losing clarity, and sophisticated enough to represent the calibre of projects and expertise behind the business.
The result was an identity built around confidence, precision and a sense of understated luxury.
The Smart Lighting People quickly began making its mark, travelling across the UK with impressive proposals and ambitious projects. With Martin's extensive knowledge and experience across international lighting projects, the brand needed a visual presence capable of standing alongside that expertise.
The identity became more than a logo. It created a recognisable foundation for proposals, presentations, print and future marketing — giving the business a strong platform from which to grow.
And there is plenty more to come.
Once the identity was established, the next challenge was bringing it into the physical world.
I spent some extra time considering how the business cards could reflect the premium nature of the brand without relying on unnecessary detail. A refined finish, elegant typography and a subtle touch of gold gave the cards the sense of quality the brand deserved.
Sometimes, the smallest details make the biggest impression.
As the business gathered momentum, Martin came back with another challenge: an upcoming exhibition.
This time, the identity needed to work at a much larger scale. I created a roller banner that translated the brand into a strong exhibition presence, designed to capture attention while keeping the message clear from a distance.
The brand had officially moved from the desk to the exhibition floor.
The right identity should do more than look good. It should give a business the confidence to step into new rooms, start new conversations and take on bigger opportunities.
To complement the exhibition presence, the next piece was an A5 booklet created to introduce The Smart Lighting People, their expertise and their approach in a more detailed format.
Together, the roller banner and booklet created a complete exhibition toolkit — giving visitors an immediate introduction to the brand before providing something tangible to explore further.
What started with a conversation about colours and typography quickly developed into a growing brand journey.
From the initial identity and premium business cards to exhibition materials and print collateral, every new piece has added another layer to The Smart Lighting People's presence.
There are already more ideas in the pipeline — some I can talk about, and a few that will have to remain under wraps for now.
Let's just say the lights are still very much on.
