A strategic print project for P.X. Farms, bringing together a 48-page tender booklet, presentation materials and ongoing agricultural marketing collateral.
Some projects arrive with a very clear destination. Others grow as you discover what is possible.
I first met Izzie at a networking event, where we started talking about a potential booklet for P.X. Farms. What initially sounded like a relatively straightforward project quickly developed into something far more ambitious.
Izzie brought her marketing expertise and copywriting skills to the table, while I worked on shaping the content into a strong visual narrative. She later introduced me to Sophie Greco, MRICS, and together we spent time developing the project, discussing ideas, refining layouts and finding the right way to communicate the scale and ambition of P.X. Farms.
The more I learned about the business, its people and its approach to modern agriculture, the more the project evolved.
And that is where the real story began.
The main project was a substantial 48-page A4 tender booklet, supported by a presentation folder and five A3 appendices.
The challenge was not simply to make a large document look polished. It needed to communicate a significant amount of information while presenting P.X. Farms as the progressive, professional and diversified agricultural business it is.
The visual direction needed to give the content room to breathe while creating a strong sense of hierarchy across the tender.
Photography, typography, editorial layouts and carefully structured pages came together to create a document that felt considered from the first page to the last.
P.X. Farms describes itself as a modern family agribusiness embracing diversification, with operations extending across farming, crop storage and cleaning, haulage and property.
The finished tender brought those different aspects together in one substantial presentation.
Working on the tender gave me the opportunity to go beyond individual pages and think about the document as a complete experience.
Every spread had a role to play. Information needed to be easy to navigate, imagery needed to carry weight and the overall presentation needed to feel professional without losing the character of the business.
The presentation folder provided the outer framework, while the A3 appendices gave supporting information the space it needed.
It became a complete tender presentation rather than simply a booklet.
The relationship continued beyond the original tender.
I was later asked to create three cereal-focused leaflets for an upcoming exhibition. These were information-rich pieces with a short turnaround, requiring the content to be organised into clear, engaging layouts that could work within a busy exhibition environment.
The finished leaflets were produced and delivered directly to the P.X. Farms offices in time for the event.
Seeing the work continue into another part of their marketing activity was a great indication of how the initial project had developed into something much broader.
After the original tender had been presented, we returned to the project with another idea.
This time, the aim was to create a more refined and compact version that could support future presentations and help introduce P.X. Farms to new potential clients and partners.
The result was a smaller, more focused format — retaining the substance of the original work while making it easier to present, share and take into new conversations.
It was another opportunity to evolve the story rather than simply repeat it.
One of the most rewarding parts of this project was the collaboration behind it.
Izzie's marketing and copywriting expertise, Sophie's professional knowledge and the wider P.X. Farms team's experience all contributed to the final result. I was able to bring the visual thinking, editorial structure and production side of the project into that mix.
That exchange of knowledge shaped the work at every stage.
P.X. Farms has grown from its family farming heritage into a diversified agricultural business operating across multiple areas and counties.
Being able to translate some of that story into tangible marketing materials was a privilege.
The tender was delivered within the required timeframe, ready for presentation, with the complete set of booklets, appendices and presentation folders prepared for collection.
The response from the team was incredibly encouraging. James Peck, Chairman of the Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire CLA, also shared his thanks after seeing the finished work.
And perhaps the best sign of a successful project?
The conversation didn't stop at the first delivery.
The cereal leaflets followed. The refined presentation followed. And there are already further ideas being explored for the future, including a planned newsletter to help P.X. Farms continue sharing its story with the wider agricultural community.
What started as a conversation about a booklet became an ongoing creative partnership.
From a single tender document to a growing collection of marketing materials, this project shows how thoughtful editorial design can help an established business communicate its expertise, ambitions and story.
There is more in the field for P.X. Farms — and I'm excited to see where the next chapter takes us.
“Fantastic graphic design work! Katty went over and above and worked out of hours to make sure we hit the deadline. The output and quality of our tender brochure was to an incredibly high standard. Thanks Katty!”
